Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Washington-based conservative think tank, said it has launched a Web site centered on government regulation in the insurance industry

The Web site, nicpa.org, will focus on the National Insurance Consumer Protection Act and the proposed optional federal charter for insurance companies, CEI said.

A considerable Google advertising budget, said CEI, will support the site, which will be updated several times a week.

“Our goal is to give the free-market perspective on the idea of an optional federal charter, while also providing accurate and timely information on the debate,” said CEI policy analyst and site administrator Kevin Hilferty.

“We may have a free-market point of view, but we aim to acknowledge both sides of the debate and engage it as best as we can,” added Mr. Hilferty.

Additions to the Web site may feature online debates and interactive question-and-answer sessions, CEI noted.
