David Disiere, the chief executive officer of Dallas-based managing general agency Deep South Insurance Group, announced plans to leave the company , the firm said last week.

A successor was not announced.

Mr. Disiere took over as CEO in 1987, eventually moving Deep South to its current headquarters in Dallas and growing operations across the country.

The firm in a statement about his departure credited Mr. Disiere with “turning Deep South from a small, family-owned business into a major national MGA.  Starting with three employees, Deep South now has over 400 employees with nine regional offices across the United States.

In 2008, QBE U.S. Agencies, a longtime partner of Deep South and a subsidiary of QBE Insurance Group, purchased Deep South for $190 million. Since closing the sale in June 2008, Mr. Disiere has continued to serve as the company’s CEO to ensure a successful transition.

“It’s been a privilege to serve with so many wonderful people. I’m proud of what we've accomplished together over the years, growing Deep South into an industry leader,” Mr. Disiere said in a statement. “But now is the time for me to step aside as CEO and move on to other opportunities.”
