WIAA Names Hakopian Chairman

The Western Insurance Agents Association said it has named Phil Hakopian, a principal with Cornerstone Commercial & Personal Insurance Services in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to a two-year term as its new chairman.

Mr. Hakopian was selected for the post at the WIAA annual business meeting last week at the organization’s offices in Rancho Cordova, Calif.

Mr. Hakopian will serve in the post from this year until 2011. Also named as officers were Carol Connors, a principal with Ck Specialty Insurance Associates in San Jose, Calif., as vice chairman and Neal Stanley, executive vice president with United Valley Insurance Services in Fresno, Calif., as secretary-treasurer.

Kathy McDonald, executive account manager with Capstone Brokerage, Las Vegas, Nev., was named immediate-past chairman. She will serve a two-year term on the executive committee.

The WIAA also named five directors. They are:

• Marty Fox, a principal with Clovis Insurance Agency in Clovis, Calif.

• Jeff Barnett, a principal with Mackie Insurance Brokerage in El Dorado Hills, Calif.

• Steve Harrington, a principal with Harrington Insurance Agency in San Jose, Calif.

• Tony Napoli, a principal with Napoli Insurance in Mission Hills, Calif.

• Tom Powell, a principal with Cal-Valley Insurance Services in Fresno, Calif.

Founded in 1947, the WIAA represents independent agents and brokers in California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico.
