Reinsurer Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, said it has named Richard Booth as vice chairman and Henry Keeling to the newly created position of president and chief executive officer of international operations.
Today’s announcement said Mr. Booth’s appointment is effective Tuesday and Mr. Keeling’s Aug. 1. Mr. Keeling will chair Guy Carpenter’s International Board and will be responsible for its operations in the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia and Bermuda.
Mr. Keeling, a former chief operating officer at XL Capital, was most recently an operating partner of Stone Point Capital LLC and spent 19 years as a Lloyd’s underwriter and broker, Guy Carpenter said.
Both appointees will report to Peter Zaffino, Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC president and CEO. Mr. Keeling will have as additional responsibilities all marine and energy, aviation and retrocession businesses globally, the company said. Both he and Mr. Booth will join the company’s executive committee.
Mr. Zaffino said in a statement that the appointment of Mr. Keeling was a step toward growing the company’s international operations.
A statement from Mr. Keeling said in much of his time in the industry he has been “a market for Guy Carpenter, a client and sometimes even a competitor. I have always admired their professionalism, their client-centric focus and their integrity. I am proud to become a member of that team.”
The company said Mr. Booth, who previously served as vice chairman of transition planning and chief administrative officer at American International Group Inc. and chairman of Hartford Steamboiler, will contribute to Guy Carpenter’s “overall strategic direction,” provide advice on improving operational performance and focus on developing key client relationships.
