The Professional Liability Underwriting Society said it has honored Vanderbilt University lecturer Corbette Doyle, a former insurance broker specializing in health care industry placements.

The Minneapolis-based association of more than 6,000 insurance and legal professionals presented Ms. Doyle with the PLUS1 award.

Ms. Doyle was recognized for her efforts in advancing the image of the professional liability industry during the group’s annual conference this month in Chicago.

At the same meeting, PLUS also honored William R. Feldhaus, associate professor of risk management and insurance for the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Professor Feldhaus received the Founders Award, which recognizes a PLUS member who has made lasting and outstanding contributions to the Society.

Referring to the PLUS1 Award bestowed on Ms. Doyle, PLUS said criteria for the award include reputation and success in the professional liability industry.

Criteria for the award also include a history of lectures and service on panels addressing topics in the industry, current activity in professional liability, activity and involvement in PLUS, longevity in the insurance industry, and measure of impact on the professional liability industry.

Ms. Doyle, who continued to meet the criteria by moderating a special educational session about the benefits of a diverse workforce at this year’s gathering, spent 15 years at Aon, where she was recruited to start a company-wide healthcare industry practice. Prior to Aon, she spent 10 years at Willis in a similar role.

Mr. Feldhaus, the Founders Award recipient, has been a primary resource and key proponent of the Registers Professional Liability Underwriter program since the early 1990s, according to PLUS.

PLUS said the professor’s work was instrumental in developing the RPLU Program’s course study guide materials and exams, and that he has served as a key resource to the PLUS Director of Education since the program’s inception.
