N.J. Manufacturers Continues Dividend Streak

New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company said it will send out special dividend checks averaging more than $107 to its personal auto policyholders for the 16^th year in a row.

The West Trenton, N.J.-based firm said approximately 406,000 customers will share more than $48.5 million and checks will be mailed starting Nov. 17 and going through mid-December.

New Jersey Manufacturers noted that the special dividends are in addition to the 5 percent regular dividend that personal auto policyholders receive on the renewal of their 2009 policies.

NJM said it is the largest auto insurer in New Jersey and has returned dividends to policyholders every year since 1918, totaling more than $4.8 billion for all lines of insurance.

The company explained that each policyholder's special dividend check will be 7.5 percent of the premium paid for the 12-month policy that began in 2008.

  • I am curious as to why my dividend gets less every year. In 2007 it was $173.48, 2008 it was $75.70, 2009 it is #48.30. I was told the longer with the company, the more you will receive each year.
