AJG Acquires Shuford Insurance Agency

Insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said it has acquired Shuford Insurance Agency Inc. in Concord, N.C. Financial terms were not released.

AJG said Shuford Insurance is an independent insurance agency offering personal and commercial property and casualty insurance products and services to clients in the Eastern United States.

The firm specializes in insurance for many industries including motorsports, construction and manufacturing, and for all personal lines coverages. It was founded in 1938.

J. Knox Hillman Jr., the principal, and 18 employees will continue to operate in their current location under the direction of Mitchel Brashier, Southeastern regional manager of Gallagher's retail property and casualty brokerage operations, AJG said.

J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., AJG chairman, president and chief executive officer, said the firm’s specialized niche products and their mid-Atlantic location would complement the Itasca, Ill.-based firm’s Southeastern region.
